Using the DTR-1 with Windows 95

I have been told that the DTR-1 will not be supported under Win95 (as
regards pen...) but that the DTR-2 drivers should be available
mid-December. OTOH, this came from a sales-type (another of which
told me mid-October) so YMMV. The tech-types will only say the 1 is
unsupported and the 2 ain't even out yet.

Since it is the same pen hardware in both cases, the 2 stuff should
work. You'll be stuck in landscape mode, tho, since niether Dauphin
nor Oak (408/737-0888) want to do a 95 portrait mode driver for the 1
(the 2 will have a different Oak card.)

Our other option is direct from Kurta (800/445-8782,) which is
available now for $70.00 (!,) but no one there so far is willing to
guarantee that their driver absolutely *will* work for the DTR, and I
don't feel like taking the chance.

I have also done the DriveSpace3 thing, and have:

Schedule+ 7.0
Money 3.0
Backup
Compression Agent
Disk Defragmenter
DriveSpace 3
ScanDisk
System Agent
Dial-up networking
Hyper Terminal
Notepad
Paint
WordPad
Direct Cable Connect
Calculator
Internet Explorer
Exchange
Media Player

and have 9 of 91MB free. I use the Accessibility features to use the
number pad to control the cursor. It's a bit of a pain on the little
keyboard, since I always forget to turn it off when I need to type
regularly, but I have a full keyboard that I use @ work to avoid this.

I also was running SoftRam, but didn't really notice a major
difference with and without it, and then ran into the Defrag bug they
have. Strangely enough, the only files that were hurt were theirs!
Anyway, I removed it until I'm running something that needs the extra
memory (I have 6Mb hard RAM anyway...)

I just put in another call to Kurta, and will keep everyone posted...

If I were speaking for Microsoft,
I probably wouldn't have said anything at all...
