How to install Auto-Update Version 1.1A
---------------------------------------

Note: If you are using Auto Update 1.1B (the registered version) please
note that the config file for 1.1B is larger, please read the
install notes enclosed with the registered version.

OK!

1. Copy the following file into a directory of your choice, I recommend
    the RBBS directory:

    AUTOUP.EXE

2. Use the DOS Copy command or a text editor to make a config file called
AUTOWELC.BCI. This must be in the same directory as AUTOUP.EXE.
The file is set up as follows:

Line 1: Name and path of the text welcome letter you wish sent to
            new users.
Line 2: Sysop's First and Last Name as you wish it to appear in the
            FROM: part of the message.
Line 3: If this field is YES, AUTOUP will generate a printer report
on LPT1 when run. NO if you do not wish this function.
Line 4: If this field is YES then AUTOUP will generate a disk log
of its activities called AUTOWELC.LOG. NO if you do not
            wish this to happen.
Line 5: New users security level.
Line 6: Security level to increase New users to.
Line 7: Drive/path/name of Messages file.
Line 8: Drive/path/name of users file.

An example is enclosed that looks like this:

            C:\RBBS\LETTER.TXT
            ROB SULZMAN
            YES
            YES
            20
            50
            C:\RBBS\MESSAGES
            C:\RBBS\USERS

This file must reside in the same directory as AUTOUP.EXE

3. If you already are using the Drop to DOS function in RBBS, add one
line to your RBBS1TM.BAT file that says AUTOUP.EXE
That's all there is to it!!

4. If you are not using the Drop to DOS Function:

  - Run CONFIG.
  - Modify parameter 261 and specify a time of day to drop to DOS.
It is a good idea to pick a time when you have the least callers!
  - Create a file called RBBSxTM.BAT. Replace the x with the node number.
  - The first line should read AUTOUP.EXE
the second should re-invoke RBBS via whatever batch file you use to
start it with. In my case it is RBBS.BAT.
  - Now you are set-up and ready to run.

Well actually don't forget to write the welcome message you wish to send
to your users, I don't think the sample I enclosed will be much help!

Comments, and requests to register are always appreciated.
