melos (release 1.0), English version

melos analyzes sound that you present to it using a microphone (voice or 
instrument) or by opening a monophonic WAV file. It immediately shows the 
information as musical score. You can save the notes as a MIDI file.

Important !
The result strongly depends on your cooperation. Please avoid any noise and
sing or play clearly. Try to select the correct parameters. In most cases
you will need a little exercise to get good results.

For using melos you need:
- PC 486DX or higher
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher
- at least 4 MB RAM
- at least 1 MB space on your harddisc
- a sound card (+wav driver)
- a microphone (for real time recognition)
- a mouse 

The file melos10e.zip includes:
- the program: melos.exe
- the ini file: melos.ini
- the True Type Font: capella.ttf, capella.fot
- the examples: bspk.wav, bspk.mel (parameters: threshold=6, tempo=87)
		bspf.wav, bspf.mel (parameters: threshold=6, tempo=82)
		bsps.wav, bsps.mel (parameters: threshold=8, tempo=81)
To install melos:
- copy capella.ttf, capella.fot and ctl3d.dll to the windows system directory
- copy melos.ini to the windows directory
- copy melos.exe and the sample files to a directory you like
- install the True Type Font capella 
- start Windows for using melos

How to use melos
melos is nearly self explaining because it looks like a tape recorder.
First choose the mode: WAV or real time.
Set correct values for the parameters, threshold=about 8 for soprano, 
threshold=about 4 for bass
wav mode: Open the desired WAV file
real time: Press the start button (red), sing or play, press the stop button
(black)
